He is able to save to the uttermost !
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God (Elohim – the Mighty One of Israel): for I shall yet praise Him for the Help* of His Countenance . . . !” Psalm 42:5
“Satan seeks to draw our minds away from the mighty Helper, to lead us to ponder over our degeneration of soul. But though Jesus sees the guilt of the past (last year, last month, last week, or even last night), He speaks pardon; and we should not dishonor Him by doubting His love.
The feeling of guiltiness must be laid at the foot of the cross, or it will poison the springs of life. When Satan thrusts his threatenings upon you, turn from them, and comfort your soul with the Promises of God. The cloud may be dark in itself, but when filled with the Light of heaven, it turns to the brightness of gold; for the glory (character and love) of God rests upon it. – Testimonies to Ministers p.518
“If you feel yourself to be the greatest sinner, Christ is just what you need, the greatest Saviour. Lift up your head and look away from yourself, away from your sin, to the uplifted Saviour; away from the poisonous, venomous bite of the serpent to the Lamb of God Who taketh away the sin of the world. – Lift Him Up p.256
“The sense of sin has poisoned the springs of Life. But Christ says, “I will take your sins; I will give you peace. I have bought you with My blood. You are Mine. My grace* shall strengthen your weakened will; and your remorse for sin I will remove . . . . !”
When temptations assail you, when care and perplexity surround you, when, depressed and discouraged, and you are ready to yield to despair, look to Jesus, and the darkness that encompasses you will be dispelled by the bright shining of His Presence !
When sin struggles for the mastery in your soul, and burdens the conscience, look to the Saviour. His grace* (G5485 Divine Influence) is sufficient to subdue sin. Let your grateful heart, trembling with uncertainty, turn to Him. Lay hold on the hope set before you . . . . “which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil . . . !” Hebrews 6:19-20. Christ waits to adopt you into His family. His strength will help your weakness; He will lead you step by step. Place your hand in His, and let Him guide you.
Never feel that Christ is far away. He is always near. His loving Presence surrounds you. Seek Him as
One Who desires to be found of you! He desires you not only to touch His garments, but to walk with Him in constant communion . . .” – Ministry of Healing p.85
“By sin (faithlessness – Romans 14:23) we have been severed from the Life of God (which is in His Word – I John 5:11 & John 6:63). Our souls are palsied. Of ourselves we are no more capable of living a holy life than was the impotent man capable of walking. Many realize their helplessness; they are longing for that spiritual life which will bring them into harmony with God, and are striving to obtain it, but in vain. In despair they cry, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from this body of death?” Romans 7:24. Let these desponding, struggling ones look up !
The Saviour is bending over the purchase of His blood, saying with inexpressible tenderness and pity, “Wilt thou be made whole?” John 5:6. He bids you arise in health and peace. Do not wait to feel that you are made whole. Believe the Saviour’s Word. Put your will on the side of Christ. Will to serve Him, and in acting upon His Word you will receive strength.
“Awake, awake; put on thy Strength, O Zion . . . Put on thy beautiful garments (Christ’s righteousness – Zechariah 3:1-5 & Luke 15:17-24), O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean . . .
Shake thyself from the dust; Arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem . . . Loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. For thus saith the LORD (Jehovah, Yehuwah), Ye have sold yourselves for nought; but ye shall be redeemed without money . . . !” Isaiah 52:1-3
Whatever may be the evil practice, the master passion which through long indulgence binds both soul and body, Christ is able and longs to deliver. He will impart Life to the soul that is “dead in trespasses.” Ephesians 2:1. He will set free the captive that is held by weakness and misfortune and the chains of sin ! – Ministry of Healing p.84
“God rejoices to bestow grace* upon all who hunger and thirst for It, not because we are worthy, but because we are unworthy. Our great need is the qualification which gives us the assurance that we shall receive the gift ! It should not be difficult to remember that the Lord desires you to lay your troubles and perplexities at His feet, and leave them there. Go to Him, saying: “Lord, my burdens are too heavy for me to carry. Wilt Thou bear them for me?”
And He will answer: “I will take them. ‘With everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee.’ I will take your sins, and will give you My peace (John 14:27). Banish no longer your self-respect; for I have bought you with the price of My Own blood. You are Mine! Your weakened will I will strengthen. Your remorse for sin I will remove !” – Testimonies to Ministers p.519
“It should not be difficult to remember that the Lord desires you to lay your troubles and perplexities at His feet, and leave them there. Go to Him, saying, “Lord, my burdens are too heavy for me to carry. Wilt Thou bear them for me?” And He will answer, “I will take them . . . ‘In a little wrath I hid My Face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer . . . !’ Isaiah 54:7-17
I will take your sins and will give you My peace. Banish no longer your self-respect; for I have bought you with the price of My Own blood. You are Mine. Your weakened will I will strengthen. Your remorse for sin I will remove !” –Lt 2, 1914 (TM 519, 520.) {1MCP 259.3}
“What shall I say? He hath both spoken unto me, and Himself hath done it: I shall go softly (in humility) all my years in the bitterness of my soul . . . . O Lord (Adoni – Sovereign King), by these (Thy Words) men live, and in all these is the Life of my spirit (mind). So wilt Thou recover me, and make me to live !
Behold, for peace I had great bitterness . . . but Thou hast in love to my soul delivered me from the pit of corruption: for Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back . . . !” Isaiah 38:15-19
“I, even I, Am He,” the LORD declares, “that blotteth out thy transgressions (rebellion and apostasies) for Mine Own sake, and will not remember* thy sins. Put Me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.” Isaiah 43:24-25
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD . . . Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool . . . !” Isaiah 1:18-19
“For I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye Me in vain: for I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right!” “Look unto Me, and be ye saved (delivered, set free, rescued, healed and made whole), all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else !” – Testimonies to Ministers p.519
“Then said Jesus (Yehushua) unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I Am He, and that I do nothing of Myself . . . !” John 8:28 & 3:1-3
“Believe now that God loves you; for He hath declared it, and when Satan tries to fasten the burden of sin and horror upon you, take your Bible, and read aloud, “God so loved the world, that He gave up (in exchange) His Only-Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life !”
John 3:16
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession (to profess, to speak aloud) is made unto Salvation (deliverance, freedom and healing) !” Romans 10:8-13
You cannot repulse the enemy by relating your fearful doubts, by telling him that you are horrified by the thought that you are lost. All this is music in his ears. He wants to make you as miserable as he is himself, but you can answer him by proclaiming the Promise that you believe in the Son, and therefore shall not perish !
“For all the Promises of God in Him are Yea, (begun), and in Him, Amen (completed) . . . . for He is the Author and the Finisher of our faith . . . !” II Corinthians 1:20 & Hebrews 12:1-2
As you turn your eyes away to the Lamb of God, Who taketh away the sins of the world, the controversy with the enemy will be ended for that season. You can repulse him by declaring (speaking aloud) that “Christ was wounded for my transgressions (rebellion and apostasies). He was bruised for my iniquities. The chastise-ment of (which bought) my peace was upon Him, and with His stripes I am healed !” Isaiah 53:3-12
Take the Word of Jesus Christ as more sure and valuable than any word that can come from the human agent. Thank God (out loud – Romans 10:9-10) with your whole heart and soul and voice that you are barricaded with the rich Promises of His infallible Word, so that the wicked one shall not touch you !” – Signs of the Times, April 9, 1894
“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have Eternal Life. For God so loved the world, that He gave up His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life.”
When the children of Israel were passing through the wilderness toward Canaan, they brought upon them-selves the judgments of God by murmuring and complaining. They were bitten by fiery, poisonous serpents of the wilderness, and were smitten with death. A messenger came through the camp, with the news that a remedy had been provided. By the direction of Christ a brazen serpent had been lifted up, and those who would but look upon it would be healed. When this messenger [message] was announced, some of the sick and dying did not accept it . . .
Here and there throughout the camp were heard the words, “It is impossible for me to be healed, because I am in such a dreadful condition. Those who are not in so bad a state as I am, may, perhaps, look and live !” Others thought they had a remedy of their own that could cure the poisonous bite of the serpent; but only those who accepted the message and looked to the brazen serpent were healed. This serpent represented Christ. He says, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up!” John 3:14-15
“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him . . . . For He saith, I have heard thee __________ (your name) in a time accepted*, and in the day of Salvation have I succoured thee . . . . Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, Today is the day of Salvation !”
II Corinthians 5:21, 6:1-2, Luke 4:17-19 & Isaiah 49:8-9
Man is poisoned by sin; but a Remedy has been provided for the fallen race in the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. Every hope that we have of Salvation (deliverance, freedom, and healing) outside of Christ is a vain hope. We cannot dishonor our Saviour more than by doubting that He will save us. Whatever may have been our life of transgression, however deep may be the stain of our sin, there is One Who is able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by Him.
“For God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent (change His mind). For hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good . . . ?” Numbers 23:19
Jesus is the remedy for sin. We may have intellect, but human intelligence can devise no way of Salvation; we may have earthly possessions, but that will not provide a ransom for the sin of our soul. Salvation (deliverance, freedom, rescue, healing, and restoration) is the gift of God through Christ, and the Promise is, “Whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish, but have eternal Life !”
It is not enough to have a nominal faith. We must have faith that will appropriate the Life-giving power (of God’s Promised Word) to our souls. We suffer great loss because we do not exercise simple, living (active) faith in Christ. We should be able to say, “He is my Saviour; He died for me; I look to Him as my comple-te Saviour and I live.” “As it is written, The Just shall live by faith . . . !” Romans 1:17
“For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. So likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Sovereign King !” Romans 6:10-11
“Who was delivered (surrendered, given up) for our offences, and was raised again for our justification (acquittal, to show or regard, rendered just, innocent, free and righteous) . . . . and if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed . . . !” Romans 4:25 & John 8:36
“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if One died for all, then were all dead. And in that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves . . . but unto Him which died for them, and rose again . . . that the Life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh !” II Corinthians 5:14-15 & 4:10-11
We are to take God at His Word. The experience that comes through living (active) faith is the experience that God wants every one of us to have. We should reach out the hand of faith, and grasp the Arm of Infinite po-wer. The simplest prayer that is put up in faith is acceptable to heaven. “For (but) without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He Is (I Am), and that He is (I Am) a Rewarder of all those that seek Him . . .” Hebrews 11:6
The humblest soul that looks up to Christ in faith is connected with the God (Elohim – Mighty One) of the universe . . .“Who upholds all things by the Word of His power !” Hebrews 1:1-3. We may walk in the Light (the glory and assurance streaming from the throne of Almighty God) as Christ is in the Light (Psalm 44:3 & 89:15).
We are to look into the great mirror of God’s law and see if our characters are condemned therein. If con-demnation is resting upon us, we need not despair, for He has provided a Way whereby we may not perish, but have pardon and Life. The promise is given that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and Just to forgive us (give in exchange for) our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness !” I John 1:9
– Signs of the Times, March 17, 1890
“Jesus is the only hope of the soul. By faith every soul may say with the Psalmist, “Whom have I in heaven but Thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee.” Psalm 73:25. The moment the sinner lays hold of Christ by faith, his sins are no longer upon him. Christ stands in the sinner’s place, and declares, “I have borne his guilt, I have been punished for his transgressions, I have taken his sins, and put My righteousness upon him !”
“And He answered saying . . . . Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him He said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity (perversity, mischief) to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with a change of raiment . . . !” Zechariah 3:1-7
In Christ the sinner stands guiltless before the law. But how vain is the hope of entering heaven if we have no present faith in Christ . . . . The LORD commands (and every command is a Promise), “Be ye holy, for I Am holy !” The Christian’s constant endeavour should be to come into perfect conformity to the Life of Christ; we must look away from the darkness, and face the Light. Do not, by your attitude of unbelief, charge God with partiality or unfaithfulness. Your doubt casts reflections upon the verity (the Truth and surety) of His Promises !
– Present Truth, January 30, 1890
We claim to belong to the people of God; then why not show forth the praises of Him Who hath called us out of darkness into His marvellous Light?
Never by thought, or word, or action, cast reflection upon God. Tell of His goodness, sing of His matchless love. Never let Satan hear you utter one word of distrust. Never say before him, “My sins are so great the Lord cannot forgive me.” Satan delights to have those for whom Christ died, doubt the benefits of Divine grace, and by so doing bring in a testimony of unbelief in the efficacy (power, worth) of the infinite sacrifice made on Calvary.
“Wherefore, He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an High Priest became (came into being for) us . . . . Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for His Own sins, and then for the people’s: for this He did once, when He offered up Himself in our place . . . !” Hebrews 7:25-27
“As Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering* (Romans 12:1) and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour . . .” “Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver (save) us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father !” Ephesians 5:2 & Galatians 1:4
“Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith . . . Sacrifice and offering Thou wouldest not, but a body hast Thou prepared Me. In burnt offerings, and sacrifices for sin (faithless transgression) Thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo I come to do Thy Will . . . Yea, Thy law is within My heart ! By the which Will (living will and Testament) we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all . . . !” Hebrews 10:10 & Psalm 40:6-8 & ref: Romans 12:1
Is God pleased or honoured to have you remain under a cloud, failing to appropriate His rich Promises, and saying by your despair that there has not been a sufficient Offering made to avail in your case? What a terrible thing it is to bear such a testimony to the world! Away with your unbelief ! Begin to work on the faith side of the question.
Many, instead of trusting in God, and resting in Him, are trusting in themselves. They make feeling their criterion. If their emotions are stirred they feel pleased, and build up their hopes upon their impulses. But when their feelings change, they become sad. Feeling is their god, but it will never work their sanctification; for they give evidence through this fact that they are trusting to their works for acceptance and Salvation. When those who are walking in darkness take Christ as their Saviour, they will find Peace (shalom) and Rest in a new Life, even the Life of Christ. Christ takes the place of self, and he who trusts in the Saviour, finds no longer a supp-ort in self. Jesus is his whole dependence. He can say with heart and soul, “I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the Life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me !” – Present Truth, January 30, 1890
“When in living (active) faith you come to Jesus, and become doers of His Word, you will taste and see that the LORD is good. You will say to all, “By His stripes we are healed.” Psalm 34:8 & Isaiah 53:4-5. You will think of Jesus, you will talk of Jesus, as One Who is willing and able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by Him. If you believe in Christ as your Saviour, His perfect obedience is set to your account. You are pardoned as you look to Jesus (in faith) as your Substitute and Surety !
Surety = the pledge and guarantee of His completed work in your life !
The Promise of God is, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and Just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness !” I John 1:9. “To declare, I say, at this time (Today), His righteousness: that He might be Just, and the Justifier of him which believeth in Jesus !” Romans 3:26. If you fail to come to Jesus be-cause you are sinful, you will always remain sinful, and will die in your sins. ref: John 8:21-24
You cannot feel His cleansing power unless you rely upon Him with implicit faith. You can do nothing yourself to remove one stain of sin. Jesus alone is able to make you clean. Will you come to Christ and be made whole, or will you remain away in unbelief, and still mourn over your wretched state?
Look and live! By beholding, we become changed into His image. When you look at the darkness, and talk of the darkness, you are scattering seeds of evil. Words of discouragement and complaint are like tares sown in a field. They fall into other minds, and spring up and bear a harvest after their kind; and souls may be lost through your suggestions of unbelief.
Long after your period of darkness and temptation has passed, the words forgotten by yourself will live in the memory of others, and when temptation comes upon them, the fruit of the seed sown will appear. An infinite Sacrifice has been made for us; a dear price has been paid. Let us show that we appreciate the great gift besto-wed upon us through the merits (worthiness) of Him Who shed His blood (His Life) on the cross of Calvary, and let us permit the Lord to do all that His love has made possible for the sanctification of the soul.” – Present Truth, January 30, 1890
“The one great lesson all must learn –the poor sinner, dead in trespasses and sins, as well as the professed Christian, who has known the Truth (God’s Word -John 17:17), but has clung to his unsanctified traits of character –is that God will save to the uttermost all who come to Him. “him that cometh to Me,” He says, “I will in no wise cast out.” The poor, the suffering, the sinful (those full of sin), may find in Christ all they need. As soon as they receive Jesus (by faith) as a personal Saviour, the cries of distress and woe are changed to songs of Praise and thanks-giving !
All may share Christ’s grace* (G5485 – Divine Influence) if they will confess to the great Sin-Bearer, whose work it is to take away the sins of all who believe ! “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is (I Am), and that He is a Rewarder of those that diligently seek Him . . .” Hebrews 11:6
“And faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God . . . !”Romans 10:17
You have the assurance that as you renounce your own righteousness, you will be clothed with His righte-ousness (Zechariah 3:1-4). Christ invites you, saying, “Let him take hold of My Strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me !” The door is opened to all. No one is turned away !
“Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it . . . . Verily, verily, I say unto you, I Am the door . . . . by Me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved (delivered, set free, rescued, healed, and made whole again) !” Revelation 3:8 & John 10:7-9
– The Youth’s Instructor, September 28, 1899
“Let this be the language of your heart: “Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the Health* of my countenance, and my God !” Psalm 42:11 & 43:5. Do not even for a moment distrust your Saviour’s power to save (to deliver, rescue, heal and set) you free ! Fall in your helplessness at the foot of the cross . . . Today, even now, this moment, believe the Promise of God. Jesus loves us with a love that is infinite. Oh, what love, what matchless love, He has shown for the children of men! Jesus does not desire you to wait to make yourself better; He desires you to take Him Today as your Saviour!
This very day say: “He is mine, and I am His. I will give my soul into His keeping, and He will keep that which I have committed to His trust against that day. Through faith He will give me victory over the temptations of the enemy. I shall see of His Salvation, and I shall triumph in God !” ref: Jude 1:24
Do you not think that such language as this will drive back the enemy from the tempted soul? Satan tries to interpose himself between us and Christ, but we must drive him back by talking faith, and by exalting the power of Jesus to save us!
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession (to speak aloud) is made unto Salvation . . . . and faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Deity) !”
Romans 10:8-17
We should not think that Jesus has forsaken us when clouds and darkness come upon our souls. He is a pitying, loving Redeemer. He does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men, (Lamentations 3:31-32). He is not willing that any of us should perish (Ezekiel 18:30-32 & 33:10-11), but that all should have eternal Life (and live with Him forever); but He wants us to follow Him as the sheep follow the Shepherd. And by and by He will lead us to Living (Life-giving) Waters, and wipe away all tears from our eyes.
“For the Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are Life . . . !”John 6:63
“And in that day (Today, if you will only hear My Voice), thou shalt say . . . O LORD, I will praise Thee: though Thou wast angry with me, Thine anger is turned away, and Thou Comfortedst me.
Behold, God is my Salvation (H3444 – Yesh-oo-aw); I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my Strength and my Song; He also is become my Salvation . . . . Therefore with joy shall ye draw Water out of the Wells of Salvation (deliverance, freedom, rescue, healing and restoration). And in that day (Today), ye shall say . . . Praise the LORD, call upon His name! ref: John 7:37-39
Declare His doings among the people (testimonies), make mention that His name is exalted . . . that at the name of Jesus (Yehushua), every knee shall bow ! (Isaiah 45:23 & Romans 14:11). . . O sing unto the LORD; for He hath done excellent thing, and this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee . . . !” Isaiah 12:1-6
Jesus loves you, and when trials come upon your soul, as they surely will, you must be often found with God in prayer. The enemy may tell you that God will not hear you; but you must Rest in His Promise that He will hear the prayer of the contrite soul. Keep your petitions continually ascending to Jesus, and believe that He hears you, and He will hear you and deliver you from every trial and temptation. The apostle says: “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ . . .
Therefore “let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with Pure Water (Ephesians 5:26, John 15:3) . . . And let us hold fast the profession (to speak aloud) of our faith without wavering . . . for He is faithful that hath Promised !” Hebrews 10:22-23
“Whom having not seen, ye love; in Whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory; receiving the end of your faith, even the Salvation of your souls !” I Peter 1:7-9
