“And when the evening was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils . . . and He cast out the spirits with His Word (John 14:10-11), and healed ALL that were sick . . .
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying . . . He Himself took our infirmities,* and bare our sicknesses !” Matthew 8:16-17
“When the Saviour said, “Go, . . . teach all nations,” He said also, “These signs shall follow them that believe . . . In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up (loose the hold of) serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:15-20 The promise is as far-reaching as the commission.
Not that all the gifts are imparted to each believer. The Spirit divides “to every man severally as He will.” 1 Corinthians 12:11. But the gifts of the Spirit are promised to every believer according to his need for the Lord’s work. The promise is just as strong and trustworthy now as in the days of the apostles. “These signs shall follow them that believe.” Mark 16:15-20.
This is the privilege of God’s children, and faith should lay hold on all that it is possible to have as an indorsement of our faith. “They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
This world is a vast lazar house, but Christ came to heal the sick, to proclaim deliverance to the captives of Satan. He was in Himself health and strength. He imparted His Life (of perfect holiness and righteousness – II Corinthians 4:10-11) to the sick, the afflicted, those possessed of demons. He turned away none who came to receive His healing power.
He knew that those who petitioned Him for help had brought disease upon themselves; yet He did not refuse to heal them (Hosea 13:9-14). And when virtue from Christ entered into these poor souls, they were convicted of sin, and many were healed of their spiritual disease, as well as of their physical maladies. The gospel (Glad Tidings) still possesses the same power, and why should we not today witness the same results?
Christ feels the woes of every sufferer. When evil spirits rend a human frame, Christ feels the curse (Galatians 3:13-14). When fever is burning up the life current, He feels the agony.
And He is just as willing to heal the sick (afflicted, diseased, and those bound to demonic powers) now as when He was personally on earth. Christ’s servants are His representatives, the channels for His working. He desires through them _______ (your name) to exercise His healing power.
– Desire of Ages, p.823-824
note: if it was through the impartation of “His Life” that He healed the sick and cast out evil spirits . . . that means, that in His Life there was no sin (not even one), so the Devil nor any evil spirit had any legal ground or fights to come into our Saviour (John 14:30).
So likewise, once His Life is imparted to you __________ (your name), “sin no longer has any dominion over you;”
For God’s Word says that you are “dead, and your life is now hidden with Christ in Almighty God !” “and ye know that He was manifested to TAKE AWAY OUR SINS, and in Him there is no sin !” I John 3:5 and II Corinthians 5:21 and Daniel 9:24
*ref: Romans 6:14 and 5:1 and Colossians 3:3 and John 14:30
Ephesians 1:4 and I Corinthians 1:29-31
And all these things are verily True . . . not because you “feel it,” but because your Mighty God and Father in heaven has spoken it so,
and He simply cannot lie !
