8 Souls saved by Water ?

OXYGEN VOLUME 13There is a very interesting passage of Scripture which has been brought to our attention a number of times over the last few months. We share Light from GOD’s Word on these verses, and pray that as you read them aloud, you will receive that Blessing which He has promised to give to every one who will simply believe !

“For once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing (being prepared), wherein few, that is eight souls were saved by water . . . !”   I Peter 3:20

For the LORD (Jehovah, Yehuwah) has assured us that, “Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet,
and a Light unto my path . . . !”   Psalm 119:105

The passage in question is found in I Peter 3:19-21, where we are told that Christ went and “preached unto spirits in prison, and . . . . eight souls were saved by water !”

This passage, I also struggled to fully understand it, until one day my daughter came to me with the same question, and we prayed together, asking the LORD (Yehuwah) to give us His Wisdom and understanding of these Words. For He has Promised each of us, that His Holy Spirit will lead us and guide us into all Truth !

Verses 19-21 need to be read in context with verse 18, which says, “For Christ also hath suffered for sins, The Just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God . . . . being put to death (daily and on Calvary) in the flesh, but quickened (given new Life) by the Spirit !

By which also He (Christ) went and preached unto the spirits in prison . . . . in the days of Noah, while the ark was
a preparing (being prepared), wherein few, that is eight souls were saved by water . . . !”

Then read aloud what the Lord tells us in chapter 1:10-11
Of which Salvation the prophets have enquired and
searched diligently, who prophesied (spoke under the inspiration of Christ) of the grace* that was yet to come unto you !”

Grace* (G5485) = the Divine Influence upon the heart, His Spirit

” . . . Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them . . . . did signify, when It (Christ’s Spirit) testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ (The Anointed King), and the glory that would follow . . . .

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister (preaching) the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have proclaimed the Glad Tidings unto you . . . . with (by) the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven . . . !”    I Peter 1:10-12

“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man . . . But holy men of God spake, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit . . . !”    II Peter 1:20-21

Those “spirits” which were in prison, in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, are those “in whom the god of this world had blinded the minds of them which believed not . . . . that they might be Saved !”
II Corinthians 4:3-4 & Acts 26:18

Now, there is also a very important thing mentioned in verse 3:20-21, which says,
Eight souls were saved by (through water) . . .”    This same symbol is used throughout the Scriptures, to show the faith that those who heard, and believed, and therefore followed and obeyed !

Moreover brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant (unaware), how that all our fathers were under the Cloud, and all passed through the sea (Red Sea leaving Egypt) . . . . And were all baptized unto (by) Moses in the cloud and in the
sea . . . And did all drink that same Spiritual drink (Living Water): for they drank of the Spiritual Rock that followed them . . . and that Rock was Christ . . . . !”     I Corinthians 10:1-5

“But with whom was He grieved those forty years?   was it not with them that continued to sin, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?   And to whom sware He, that they should not enter into His Rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief . . . !”   Hebrews 3:7-19

Now there is another Scripture which reveals great Light in this mention of Baptism “Saving” ? And we must remember that “Saved” and “Salvation” literally means in both the greek as well as Hebrew = deliverance, to set free, to rescue, to heal and make whole again !

And this has been the plan and purpose of
Salvation since the very beginning . . . . to restore in man that Divine Image of our Creator. And this is the Promise which you and I have in Christ Jesus, for it is “Christ in us, the hope of glory !” Colossians 1:27

I Peter 3:21 tells us that “baptism doth also now Save us . . . (but not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,
but rather, the answer of a good conscience toward God,” – saying Yes, Lord, I believe that You will do exactly what you have Promised me, for You cannot lie !) . . . .

The answer that is of a “good conscience toward God” . . . by the resurrection of Jesus Christ !

For know ye not, that so many of us, as were baptized into Jesus Christ (Yehushua ha Moshaic – Yehuwah’s Salvation and Anointing), were baptized into His death ?

Therefore we are buried with Him (present tense) by baptism into death, so that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory (ref: Exodus 33:18-34:7) of The Father, even so we also should walk (now live) in newness of Life ! For if we have been planted (buried) together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection . . .

Knowing this, that our old man (that which was born under of Adam) is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, and that henceforth we should no longer serve sin . . . . !”     Romans 6:1-14

For “if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed . . . !”   John 8:36

“In Whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ . . . !

Note: and when was it that Christ “put off” flesh and blood ?

Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him . . . . through faith in the operation (work) of God, Who hath raised Him from the dead ! . . . . And you being dead in your sins, and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened (given new Life) together with Him (Jesus Christ) . . . having forgiven you all trespasses !” Colossians 2:11-13

Yea, “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me . . . and the Life which I now
live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God . . . Who loved me, and gave Himself in exchange for me !” Galatians 2:20

For “we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us . . . And greater is He which is in us, than he that is in this world !”     Romans 8:37 & I John 4:4

And if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwells in you, then He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal (earthly) bodies . . . . by His Spirit that dwelleth in you !”     Romans 8:11-17

“And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins . . . wherein in time past ye walked (lived) according to the course (path, ways) of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air . . . that spirit which now worketh in the children of disobedience . . .

But God
. . .Who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us . . . even when we were dead in our sins,
hath He quickened us together with Christ (for by grace* ye are Saved).    And He hath raised us up together in heavenly (the heavens – Isaiah 66:1) in Christ Jesus !

So that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His Grace* in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus . . . . For by Grace* (G5485 – the Divine Influence upon the heart) are ye saved, through faith . . . . and faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God ! . . . . and that not of yourselves: for it is the Gift of God !”
Ephesians 2:1-10 & Romans 10:17

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us ! by the washing (baptism) of Regeneration, and the renewing of the Holy Spirit ! . . . . Which He shed (gushed, poured out) upon us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour . . . !”    Titus 3:5-6 & 2:11-14

Now, “if any man thirsts, let him come unto Me (The Word-Christ Jesus), and drink. He that believeth on Me (The Word), as the Scripture hath said, Out of his belly (heart) shall flow rivers of Living (active, Life-giving) Water ! . . . . For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh ! . . . .

And this He spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him (The Word) should receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given (in It’s fullness); because that Jesus was not yet glorified . . . !”
John 7:37-39, Isaiah 12:1-6 & John 4:1-14 & ref: Matthew 12:34 & Luke 6:45

Wherefore, I also, after I heard of your faith (trust) in the Lord Jesus . . . cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers . . . . That the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened, so that ye may know what is the hope of His calling,
and what is the riches (abundance) of the glory of His Inheritance in the saints . . .And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe . . . .

According to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ (Who was made to be sin for us), when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His Own right hand in the heavenly (heavens – Isaiah 66:1) . . . . . Far above all principalities, and powers, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come !”     Ephesians 1:17-23

To close . . . . this is “the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Who is gone into heaven . . . and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto Him . . . !”     I Peter 3″21-22

“And Jesus came and spake unto them (and you and I), saying . . . All power is given unto Me, in heaven and in earth . . . . Go ye therefore, and into all the world, and proclaim the Glad Tidings to every creature. And he that believeth and is baptized shall be Saved (delivered, set free, rescued, healed and made whole again) !”
Matthew 28:18-19 & Mark 16:15-18

May the LORD God (Yehuwah Elohim) Bless you today with His Spirit-filled Word ! and may you believe as never before that great work which has been wrought for you in Christ Jesus !For this is His name whereby He shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS !”
