As Thou Hast Believed !

Jesus-heals-lame     “And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way, and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour . . . !” Matthew 8:10-13

This is the lesson which Jesus (Yehushua) taught while He was on earth, that the gift which God promises us, we must believe we do receive, and it is ours !

Jesus healed the people of their diseases when they had faith in His power; He helped them in the things which they could see, thus inspiring them with confidence in Him concerning things which they could not see –leading them to believe in His power to forgive sins . . .

This He plainly stated in the healing of the man sick with palsy: “That ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith He to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.” Matthew 9:6. So also John the evangelist says, speaking of the miracles of Christ, “These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Anointed), the Son of God; and that believing ye might have Life through His name.” John 20:31 & I John 5:11-12

– Steps to Christ, p.51

The Scriptures are to be received as God’s Word to us, not written merely, but spoken. When the afflicted ones came to Christ, He beheld not only those who asked for help, but all who throughout the ages should come to Him in like need and with like faith. When He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee” (ref: Isaiah 38:15-17); when He said to the woman of Capernaum, “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace,” He spoke to other afflicted, sin-burdened ones who should seek His help. Matthew 9:2; Luke 8:48 & John 14:27

So with all the Promises of God’s Word. In them He is speaking to us individually, speaking as directly as if we could listen to His Voice. It is in these Promises that Christ communicates to us His grace* (G5485) and power. They are leaves from that Tree which is “for the healing of the nations.” Revelation 22:2.

Received, assimilated (appropriated by faith as your own), they are to be the strength of the character, the inspiration and sustenance of the life. Nothing else can have such healing power. Nothing besides these unfailing Promises can impart the courage and faith which give vital energy to the whole being. To one who stands trembl-ing with fear on the brink of the grave, to the soul weary of the burden of suffering and sin, let the physician as he has opportunity repeat the Words of the Saviour –for all the Words of Holy Writ are His:

“Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine !”
– Ministry of Healing, p.122-123

“From the simple Bible account of how Jesus healed the sick, we may learn something about how to believe in Him (the Word of God – John 1:1-14) for the forgiveness of sins. Let us turn to the story of the paralytic at Bethesda. The poor sufferer was helpless; he had not used his limbs for thirty-eight years. Yet Jesus bade him, “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.” John 5:1-9.

The sick man might have said, “Lord (Sovereign, King – Matthew 28:18-19), if Thou wilt make me whole, then I will obey Thy Word.” But, no, he believed Christ’s Word, believed that he was made whole, and he made the effort at once; he willed to walk, and he did walk. He acted by faith on the Word of Christ, and God gave the power. He was made whole !” – Steps to Christ, p.51

Jesus assures each of us, “It is the Spirit that quickeneth (gives, renews Life), the flesh profited nothing . . . . Yea, the Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life !” John 6:63

The creative energy that called the worlds into existence is in the Word of God. This Word imparts power; It begets Life (James 1:18-22 & I Peter 1:23-25).

Every command is a Promise; accepted by the will, received into the soul by faith, It brings with it the Life of the Infinite One. It transforms the (your) nature and re-creates the soul in the image of God . . . . The Life thus imparted is in like manner sustained. “By every Word that proceed-eth out of the mouth of God !” – Education, p.126

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious (blood bought) Promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the Divine nature (of faith), having escaped the corruption (death and decay) that is in this world through carnal desire . . . !” II Peter 1:4

“In like manner you are a sinner. You cannot atone for your past sins (yesterday, last week, last month, or last year); you cannot change your own heart and make yourself holy. But God promises to do all this for you through Christ. You believe that Promise. “For all the Promises of God are in Him, Yea, and in Him, Amen !”

Corinthians 1:20 and ref: Job 14:4 & Jeremiah 13:23

Our condition through sin is unnatural, and the Power that restores us must be supernatural, else it has no value. There is but one Power that can break the hold of evil from the hearts of men, and that is the power of God (Deity, Divinity) in Jesus Christ.

Only through the blood of the Crucified One is there cleansing from sin. His grace* alone can enable us to resist and subdue the tendencies of our fallen nature . . . “For we are more than conquerors through Him that loves us !” “And greater is He that is in us, than He that is in this world !” Romans 8:37 & I John 4:4

– Ministry of Healing, p.429

You confess your sins and give yourself to God. You will to serve Him. Just as surely as you do this, God will fulfill His Word to you. If you believe the Promise, –believe that you are forgiven and cleansed,–then God supplies the fact; you are made whole, just as Christ gave the paralytic power to walk when the man believed that he was healed. It is so if you believe it !

Quote: “This experience depends upon the faith which each one exercises for himself, and “it is of (by) faith, that it might be by grace.” Rom. 4:16. To all who sincerely pray the prayer, “Create in me a clean heart,” (Ps. 51:10), the reply comes, “Believe ye that I am able to do this? … According to your faith be it unto you.” Matt. 9:28-29. “For this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (I John 5:4); but faith for victory is the “faith which worketh by love.” Galatians 5:6.”
                                             – W.W. Prescott, message from 1895 Armadale Campmeeting

For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God !” “And now ye are clean, through the Word which I have spoken unto you . . . !” Romans 10:17 & John 15:3 and ref: Ephesians 5:26

Do not wait to feel that you are made whole, but say, “I believe it; it is so, not because I feel it, but because God has Promised.” And it is impossible for God to lie !” Titus 1:2 & Hebrews 6:12-20

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession* (to profess, to speak aloud) is made unto Salvation (deliverance, rescue, freedom, healing and restoration) !” Romans 10:10

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,* consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus. Who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was in all His house. For this Man (Christ Jesus) . . . as a Son over His Own house; Whose house we are, if we hold fast the confidence (boldness, assurance) and rejoicing firm unto the end . . .” Hebrews 3:1-6

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is now passed into the heavens (Isaiah 66:1), Jesus the Son of God . . . Let us hold fast our profession . . . and let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,* that we may obtain mercy, and find grace* to help in time of need . . .” Hebrews 4:14-16

And having an High Priest over the house of God (II Corinthians 6:16-18); Let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience . . . and our bodies washed with pure Water (John 15:3). Let us hold fast the profession* of our faith, without wavering . . . for He is Faithful that hath Promised . . .

Looking unto Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith !” Hebrews 10:21-23 & 12:2

For Jesus says, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24. There is a condition to this Promise –that we pray according to the will of God. But it is the will of God to cleanse us from sin, to make us His children, and to enable us to live a holy life. So we may ask for these blessings, and believe that we receive them, and thank God that we have received them.

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification . . . !” I Thessalonians 4:3 & ref: John 1:12-13

It is our privilege to go to Jesus and be cleansed, and to stand before the Law without shame or remorse. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after (by) the Spirit.” Romans 8:1.

– Steps to Christ, p.51-52

“Standing before the broken Law of God, the sinner cannot cleanse himself; but, believing in Christ, he is the object of His infinite love and clothed in His spotless righteousness. For those who believe in Christ, Jesus prayed “Sanctify them through Thy Truth; Thy Word is Truth (Verity)! . . . that they all may be one; as Thou, Father, art in Me and I in Thee, that they also may be One (ekh-awd – united, joined) in Us, that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me . . .

The soul who sees Jesus by faith, repudiates his own righteousness. He sees himself as incomplete, his repentance insufficient, his strongest faith but feebleness, his most costly sacrifice as meager, and he sinks in humility at the foot of the cross.

But a Voice speaks to him (you) from the Oracles of God’s Word. In amazement he hears the message, “Ye are complete in Him !”

Now all is at rest in his soul. No longer must he strive to find some worthiness in himself, some meritorious deed by which to gain the favor of God. Beholding the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world, he finds the peace of Christ; for pardon is written against his name, and he accepts the Word of God, “Ye are complete in Him !” Colossians 2:10
