Chosen in Him . . . ?

ascension     There has been one promise of Scripture which the Lord Jesus Christ has been bringing to my remembrance repeatedly over the last few months. It is found in John 8:31-32, where He tells us . . . “You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free !”

And then I remember Christ’s prayer in the garden, when He cries to our Father on our behalf, and says . . . “Sanctify them through Thy Truth, Yea, Thy Word is Truth !”     John 17:17

In the original greek of the text, the word “Truth” literally means Verity, (verily so) !

So what Christ Jesus is really promising to each of us, is that we shall know the Truth, and the Truth (the unfailing verity of His Word) shall make us free . . . “For whom the Son makes free, shall be free indeed !”
John 8:33-36

That which He desires to reveal to us above all else . . . is who we are in Christ Jesus. For God’s Word tells us clearly that . . .
we were “crucified with Christ . . .” Galatians 2:20 & 5:24
we are “dead with Christ . . ” Romans 6:4-8 & Colossians 3:3
we were “buried with Christ . . .” Colossians 2:12 & Romans 6:1-6
we were “raised with Christ to walk in newness of Life” Romans 6:4, Romans 8:10-11 & Galatians 2:20
and that we are now “seated with Christ in the heavens”  Ephesians 1:18-21, Ephesians 2:5-7, Mark 16:19-20 & Isaiah 66:1

“Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through faith of (in) the operation of God . . . Who hath raised Him from the dead . . . and set Him at His Own right hand in the heavenly (heavens) !”  Colossians 2:12 & Ephesians 1:20

“In Whom also ye are circumcised (your heart) with the circumcision made without hands . . . in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ . . . !” Colossians 2:11

For in that He died, He died unto sin once . . . but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God !” Romans 6:9-11

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, so that grace* may abound? God forbid ! . . . How shall we that are now dead to sin, live any longer therein ?” Romans 6:1-2

Yea . . . “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord (Sovereign King) Jesus Christ . . . by Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto this world . . . For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision . . . but a new creature (creation) !” Galatians 6:14-15

For “of Him (The Father) are ye in Christ Jesus . . . Who of (by) God is made unto us Wisdom, and Righteousness, and Sanctification, and Redemption . . . that according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord !” ref: I Corinthians 1:30-31, I Cor. 1:24, Jeremiah 23:5-6, Hebrews 10:5-14 & Romans 3:24, Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14 & Hebrews 9:12

For “if any man be in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation . . . old things are now passed away; Behold, all things are become new !” II Corinthians 5:17

We are in Christ Jesus, because God our Father has put us there !     For His Word says so . . . and just as we were born once in Adam (Romans 5:12-19) . . . dead in our sins, and the uncircumcision of our flesh . . . born with the sentence of death, and in bondage to a nature bent toward sin . . . . Even so now, to every one who is willing to believe God’s Life-giving Word, and to walk in faith, knowing that He which hath promised is faithful . . . . We are called to rise from the dead, and walk in newness of Life, as sons and daughters of the Living God !

For we had the sentence of death in ourselves (Romans 5:12-19) . . . so that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead . . . !”     II Corinthians 1:9-10

Therefore . . . “put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for (the failure of) the flesh . . . . for sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace* (G5485 – the divine Influence upon the heart) !”   Romans 13:14 & 6:14

“For the law of the Spirit and Life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death (in Adam – Romans 5:12-19). For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh . . . God sending His Own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh, and in exchange for sin, condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteousness of the law might be filled full in us, who walk (live) not after the flesh, but after (by) the Spirit . . . !”   Romans 8:2-4 & ref: II Corinthians 5:21

Which are “born (begotten) not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man . . . But of the will of God !” John 1:13   Halleluyah – Praise the LORD !!!   Who “according to His abundant mercy, hath begotten us again unto a Living Hope (confidence, assurance) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead !”
I Peter 1:3-5 & 1:23-25

And “by the which will (a living will and testament), we are sanctified . . . through the offering (Romans 12:1) of the body of Jesus Christ . . . once for all !”   Hebrews 10:4-12

Begotten again . . . (by faith), “with the Word of Truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures !” James 1:18

“For we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves . . . but in God, which raiseth the dead,” and “calleth those things which be not, as though they already were !” II Corinthians 1:9 & Romans 4:17-25

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He (the Lord Jesus Christ) also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death . . . dying unto sin (Romans 6:10 & Hebrews 12:1-4), He might destroy him that had the power* of death, that is the Devil . . . . and deliver them who through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage . . . !” Hebrews 2:14-15, Romans 6:11-23

“And you hath He quickened (raised to new Life), who were dead in trespasses and sins, wherein in time past ye walked . . . in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and the carnal mind . . . and ye were by nature the children of wrath, even as others . . . But God, Who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us . . . even when we were dead in sins, hath He quickened us together with Christ, and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavens (Isaiah 66:1) in Christ . . .

So that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace* (G5485) in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus . . . !” Ephesians 2:1-7 “According as He hath chosen us in Him, before the foundation of this world . . . . that we should be holy, and without blame before Him in love . . . .
Ephesians 5:26-27, Hebrews 10:4-14 & Jude 1:24

To the praise of the glory of His grace,* wherein He hath made us ___________ (your name) accepted in the Beloved. In Whom we have redemption (ransom in full, salvation, deliverance, atonement) through His blood . . . . for the Life is in the blood !. . . (Leviticus 17:10-11), even the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace* !” Ephesians 1:4-7

Wherefore I also (Paul) . . . cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers . . . That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ . . . may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revealing (revelation) in the knowing of Him (John 17:3) . . . . that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope (confidence, assurance) of His calling . . . . for the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance . . . and what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe . . . ref: Romans 11:29 & I Thessalonians 2:13

According to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead . . . and set Him at His Own right hand in the heavens (Isaiah 66:1), far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion . . . and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come !” Ephesians 1:17-21

“And ye are complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power” . . . “the faithful Witness, and the First Begotten from the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth . . . Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His Own blood . . .

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father, unto Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever !”     Colossians 2:10 & 3:1-4 and Revelation 1:5-6

Now therefore, I encourage you . . . “as ye have therefore received Christ Jesus (by faith), so walk ye in Him . . . rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith !” Colossians 2:6
